Saving a Copy of a Data Product

You can save a copy of a data product.

Depending on your user role and permissions, you can save a copy of a data product. Saving a copy is particularly useful if you want to create a new version of an entity for testing purposes.

When you save a copy of a data product, all metadata and mastering flow settings, except for source datasets and schema mapping, are included in the copy.

To save a copy of a data product:

  1. Navigate to Studio.
  2. On the data product tile, select More more vertical icon.
  3. From the More menu, select Save As.
  4. In the Save Entity Type As dialog, provide a new name and optional description for the data product.
  5. Select Save.
The tile for the new data product is added to Studio.
  6. Open the new data product in Designer and then do the following:
    a. Add the source datasets.
    b. Add the source datasets as inputs to the Schema Mapping step, and map the source fields to the unified schema.
If you added the same source files used in the original data product, the schema maps automatically.
    c. Run the mastering flow to deliver mastered data to Studio for the copied data product.
