Saving a Copy of an Entity Type

Depending on your user role and permissions, you can save a copy of an entity type. Saving a copy is particularly useful if you want to create a new version of an entity for testing purposes.

When you save a copy of an entity type, all metadata and mastering flow settings, except for source datasets, are included in the copy.

To save a copy of an entity type:

  1. Navigate to Studio.
  2. On the entity type tile, select More more vertical iconmore vertical icon.
  3. From the More menu, select Save As.
  4. In the Save Entity Type As dialog, provide a new name and optional description for the entity type.
  5. Select Save.
    The tile for the new entity type is added to Studio.
  6. Open the new entity type in Designer, add the source datasets, and then run the mastering flow to deliver mastered data to Studio for the copied entity type.
