Managing Sources

You can edit or delete a source. You can refresh and reupload your source data to make the latest data available in mastering flows. You can share a previously added source and change permissions to allow other users to use the source in a mastering flow.

Depending on your user role and permissions, you can:

Refreshing Source Data from Cloud Storage Locations

You can refresh source data stored in a cloud storage location or database, such as AWS S3 or Snowflake, to make the latest data available in mastering flows.

important Important: Refreshing source data updates that data in all data products in which it is used.

If your source dataset’s schema has changed since importing it into Tamr Cloud, then your refresh will fail. For example, if you have new, removed, or renamed columns in your source dataset’s schema, your refresh will fail. Instead of refreshing, reimport your source dataset in Admin > Sources.

To upload a newer version of your existing source data:

  1. Navigate to Menu menu > Sources.
  2. To refresh a source, select Refresh refresh in the source row.

Reuploading a Source File

You can reupload a local source data file to make the latest data available.

important Important: Uploading a new version of a source file changes that file in all data products in which it is used.

If your source dataset’s schema has changed since uploading it into Tamr Cloud, then you’ll need to add the updated source as a new source dataset in Admin > Sources. Ypu need to do this if, for example, you have new, removed, or renamed columns in your source dataset’s schema.

To upload a new version of a source file:

  1. Navigate to Admin > Sources.
  2. In the Sources table, under the Actions column, select Reupload Reupload for the source you need to upload again.
  3. Upload your file and confirm your reupload.

Deleting a Source

important Important: Deleting a source file removes it from Tamr Cloud. If you delete a source file used in data product mastering flows, that file will no longer be available to those data products.

To delete a source:

  1. Navigate to Menu menu > Sources.
  2. Locate the source you want to delete, and select Delete trash icon in its row.
  3. Confirm the deletion.
